As the year winds down, we tend to reflect. Did we stick to our resolutions and goals? Are we proud of what we accomplished this year? I don't think I made a list of things I wanted to do this year but if I did, I am sure spending more time with my family was #1. That never changes.
So I got to thinking. What are a few key ingredients for the perfect movie night? We like to theme things around here. Every movie night requires some good old fashioned popcorn. But for a Minions Movie Night, they must be served in minion boxes. So now what about the drink? How about something out of this world? Something so good it's bad? Who was it that asked "Doesn't if feel good to be bad?" None other than the villain of the movie. The one and only Scarlet Overkill. And then it was settled. We would need a drink that Scarlet herself would approve of.
Ingredients -
1c. sugar
3c. water
1 cherry flavored gelatin
2c pineapple juice can
2c orange juice
2 lemons juiced
1 2l lemon lime soda
Directions -
In a pot, add the water, sugar and gelatin and bring it all to a boil. Stir until everything is dissolved. About 4 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat and add in the juices. Pineapple, Lemon and Orange. Stir it all well and let it cool.
Once it has cooled down, pour it into a freezer safe container and let it freeze up over night.
The morning of the party, take the container out and put it into the refrigerator to defrost a bit.
When you are ready to serve it, take the juice mix out of the fridge. By this point it should no longer be a frozen block but more soft. Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, scrape up some of the mix and put it into the bottom of a nice pitcher or punch bowl. If you use a pitcher, you will probably want to use only half of it. A punch bowl can hold more.
Pour the lemon lime soda into the pitcher. Taking a minute to let the foam go down before adding more and filling it to the top. Give it a little stir and serve it up.
We even drew faces on the popcorn boxes before I filled them up. This way Stuart isn't trying to steal Bob's popcorn. Oh I mean, Anthony and Alex.
This punch is sweet and sour. Sounds just like Mrs. Overkill. It will try to steal the show, but in the end, the little yellow guys will take back the crown (get it) and steal your hearts all over again. I'm so glad they finally got their own movie.
