Swings, S'mores and Shooting Hoops

Well then!  Friday is here again.  Its been quite the week.  And knock on wood, not the bad kind.  This week we have really settled into our new routines.  We have had to move some things around and that has been the hardest part for me.  Mostly bedtime stuff.  Any other moms out there with kids who are shocked every night that they have to brush their teeth?  If this is my biggest fight of the day, I know I should count my blessings.   I will.  I do.  But for the love of all things, kid, go brush your teeth!

Today I'm linking up with Lindsay from The Flynnigans, Charlotte from My Pixie Blog and Beth from Coffee until Cocktails.  Every Friday we share all the things that we are happy, grateful and thankful for!  Stop on over and see what everyone else is sharing today! Here are a few things that made me happy this week.

For starters,   I know that many others are struggling with all the changes.  Being stuck at home.  Having to work from home.  Having the kids home.  I am so grateful that we were able to make the switch to online learning pretty smoothly.   And am thankful that they didn't just say we had to homeschool because, I am no teacher.  The boys have such involved teachers who have been great about checking in with them through virtual classes and class meetings.  And who have stayed in touch with us to make sure we know whats going on.

Im more than happy to have the boys home.  This morning, I figured Id sleep in. When I woke up, I laid in bed and waited for someone to come wake me up.  Instead Alex woke up and went straight to work.  I came out and sat down and told him how proud I was of him for really staying focused and driven he has been.  He really has been so good about getting his work done and going above and beyond when he can.  If you know Alex you know his biggest gripe with school is not being able to move on as soon as he gets things.  So distance learning has been great for him.  Anthony has hit a few snags but is sailing on through as well.  Hes has his first video class today and isn't feeling it at all.  But he did just say it feels good to put on real clothes today.  He is his fathers son!

Truth is, I like not being alone at home.  With the dogs gone, its just been me.  Well me and Koopa the tortoise, but hes kinda a loner.  The house has been quiet during the day.  To quiet.  And with out the craziness of school pick up and after school stuff we have been able to just chill.  Getting dinner done isn't rushed. Its like Im back on island time.  No worries.

Water balloon baseball.  Y'all, if your kids have cabin fever and you have some balloons, do it.  They get some outside time, drain some energy and release their frustrations.  And no one is chasing a ball or breaking a window!  Its an all around win!

Alex joins me on the patio in the mornings. He is usually up and ready to get straight to work, but the other day just just walked out, snuggled up and fell asleep.  Happy heart!  Check out those dry, over washed and sanitized hands though!

Flowers are always a plus and these bright yellow pretties sure were a welcome sight!  My sister brought me a cutting of her Chisme plants.  After winter and 2 rounds of puppies, they were looking pretty sad.  I threw 3 plants into one pot and once it warmed up they really blew up.  And now everyday I have been welcomed with flowers.

I have been straight up paranoid to push my heart and exercise since my heart attack.  But after figuring out my heart rate issues and feeling like its been consistently good, I have been talking about moving my butt again.  The hard part is starting slow.  Walk they said,  don't run.  But my brain was like just go a little faster.  I didn't listen, and a solid 30 minutes or walking and power walking felt really good.  But it still took me a few days to recover and so Im going to set a goal of twice a week walks for now.

The steaks I grilled on Sunday were good but the best part about the fire was roasting marshmallows and making s'mores for dessert.  It hasn't been feeling super Spring like, but the breeze and chocolatey toasty s'mores sure did make it feel right!

When the rumors starting circling about distance learning and we figured the boys weren't going back to school, David went out and go the boys a hoop so they wouldn't stay holed up playing video games all day.  Watching them all play has been fun.

Trying to stay positive and happy is hard when the world is hurting.  But if you just take a few minutes to look back at the week and find a few things that made you smile, Id love to hear about them.  Share your happiness!

This weekend is going to be rainy and chilly so it looks like we will be spending time inside.  Movies, games and food it is.  No complaints here.  What are you all up to this weekend?  What ever you do, I hope you stay healthy and happy.
